Hen Weekend

When your best friend asks you to be her chief bridesmaid, the first things that spring to your mind will be the posh frock, nice hair do and the opportunity to snog the best man or one or two of the ushers… Caught up in the excitement of such prospects you might just overlook the fact that it will be down to you to arrange her hen weekend! Unless you are Monica from Friends, this prospect may fill you with dread and make break out into a cold sweat every time you think about the task you have just taken on!

Whacky's Top Tips for a Fab Hen Weekend!

Just follow our simple advice and you'll soon be arranging a fabulous weekend that Monica would be proud of!

Firstly, start planning as early as possible - We recommend giving yourself 3 months and longer if you are planning a trip abroad. If you're thinking about themes and fancy-dress it also gives everybody plenty of time to come up with ideas!

Secondly liaise with the bride on the invite list. Get her to categorise potential invites into 2 categories of hen: the 'must be there at all costs' hen - usually closest mates and sisters and the 'invited because I had to' hen - usually consists of mother, husband to-be's mother and sisters, old school and uni friends and girls that invited the bride to their hen do so it would rude not to invite them back… Prioritise the availability of the 'must have' list over the 'have to' list and you'll have yourself a happy bride!

Thirdly bear in mind everybody's budget when you choose the activities for your weekend and get an idea of the budget of 'the must be there at all costs' hens - you don't want them not to come because they can't afford it.
